Band of Bards Comics signs Elyse Russell for Horror Titles FELL WITCH & SENTIENCE

Band of Bards Comics is proud to officially announce we have signed Elyse Russell (THIS GIRL IS OURS; AWOKEN) to a publishing contract for her horror one-shot FELL WITCH and light novel SENTIENCE!
In this final announcement of 2021 Band of Bards is excited to bring a double dose of horror with two unique titles, each with a format fitting to the tale. As a one-shot novella FELL WITCH brings a well known package full of spooky delight. In SENTIENCE readers will be exposed to a longer form light novel. Popularized in Japan, the light novel is a blend of prose with sequential art and traditional illustrations. This is an opportunity for BoB to bring something unfamiliar and new to American comics readers while still providing high quality art married with prose.
FELL WITCH follows Imelda, a mother disillusioned with the burden of raising a child while her husband continues on with life unchanged. Concerned for Imelda’s health, her husband calls for the village midwife who reveals the haunted history of the Fell Witch. Not long after the village is attacked by Hell-pigs. Fleeing into a cursed swamp, Imelda must confront her own demons if she and her child are to survive. FELL WITCH is slated to be released in July 2022!
SENTIENCE is a light novel pushing the boundaries of our medium. We find a clockwork android named Kyra completely assured of her place in the world becoming riddled in self-doubt and burdened with questions of her own identity. Over the course of 13 chapters we get to see the fantastical world built by Russell in which Kyra operates as a spy and assassin for her Sorceress Mother, a harvester of human soul energy. We learn of how Kyra has been manipulated all her life to serve her mother’s twisted purposes. As Kyra starts to fall for one of her eventual targets she is forced to make a choice between loyalty to her abusive mother or to her own heart. This story can only end in tragedy as Russell explores the depths of reclaiming one’s own identity and forging your own path in life. Look for SENTIENCE in October 2022!
