PROSPECTS hits Kickstarter September 28 at Noon Eastern

Today is the launch of the second title from Band of Bards – PROSPECTS written by Max Majernik and art & main covers by Jean Franco. We’re absolutely thrilled to be entrusted to re-launch Prospects. Max has created issues 1 – 3 on his own with Jean, that’s a whole third of the entire series! So we’re ahead of the game already here and looking to hit the ground running.

You’ll see our funding goal has varied a good bit from our goal on Final Gamble. That simply reflects the differences in where each project stands in development and what we need for our immediate goals. If you backed Final Gamble (thank you!) you’ll notice some similarities though. Our stretch goals will be focused on funding more issues and increasing creator pay.

We’ll have Backer Benchmark Bonuses at 100, 200, 300, & 400 backers. And you’ll see a slew of great add-on items available.

A couple items of note – if you missed out on Final Gamble, or on one of the covers, both will be available as add-on items during the Prospects campaign. There will also be a super BoB catch-up reward that nets you every book and every cover to date.

We’re also proud to be bringing the Creator Tip back. I think that’ll just be a BoB standard in any Kickstarters we do. While the creative teams get front-end and back-end compensation (we’ll never ask for free labor) we as a publisher want to find as many ways to line the creators’ pockets as possible. So with that we offer the Creator Tip add-on, a way for you to pay some cash directly to the creative team. This add-on starts at $2 and has no cap on quantity. So if you want to tip $20 to the team just select the Creator Tip and change the quantity to 10. That simple!

You’ll be hearing a lot from us about why Prospects stuck out to Chris and me over the next month. I’ll keep it short here. The heart of this story just hits home in so many ways. It’s a tale of an economically depressed town swindled out of its resources, its best & brightest citizens, and its dignity by fast talking scientists turned venture capitalists. Our protagonist Colin is an utterly average-at-best fat slob (like the BoB Braintrust) which explains why he has never caught the eye of the town’s two competing armies of Cyborgs and Zombies. This is something he is relentlessly harassed about. BUT it’s also what will enable him to eventually become this town’s hero and savior.

I don’t want to spoil anything from the big picture, but these are things that we just ate up as progeny of the Rust Belt (as is Max who hails from Pittsburgh). There are many more wonderful layers to Prospects but let’s pace ourselves. We have 35-ish days… I think. Math is hard.

Jump right over to the Kickstarter page and check it out!
