THE DARK SIDE OF PURITY Launches on Kickstarter

Band of Bards is proud to announce the launch of THE DARK SIDE OF PURITY on Kickstarter as of June 6, 2022. In the first 12 hours the campaign has raised nearly one quarter of its $12,000 goal.
This 2-book anthology of comics, prose, poetry, and mixed media is being created in collaboration with curator Elyse Russell (Sentience) and her team of nearly 3 dozen women & non-binary creators. Each piece gives an individual take on the harms of Purity Culture in a dramatic punch back at the patriarchy.
Purity Culture and its harm on society are always a relevant issue. With the recent escalation of attacks on reproductive rights in the United States the creators and BoB felt it was important to accelerate the production timeline and press forward with the anthology now. This is our way of fighting back, of not standing by silently while bodily autonomy is stripped away. THE DARK SIDE OF PURITY is an effort to amplify voices, but also to aid the fight for reproductive rights in a material way.
Band of Bards is keeping no profit from sales of THE DARK SIDE OF PURITY. The Kickstarter will be used to raise production and printing funding, with any excess paid out to the creators. All profit from future sales via distribution will be donated to NARAL (Kickstarter prohibits donating funds raised on its platform).
